WFC and ECOSOC

Turning Interest Into Action

Since 2011, WFC has had consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council [ECOSOC]. ECOSOC serves as the central forum for discussing international economic and social issues, formulating policy recommendations, and coordinating the economic and social fields of the UN. It is the only main UN body with a formal framework for NGO participation.

An NGO with consultative status can attend international conferences and events; make written and oral statements at these events; organize side events; and enter United Nations premises with have opportunities to network and lobby.

WFC disseminates information from United Nations agencies to women founders in its network and encourages these women to attend United Nations meetings and conferences, especially sessions of the Commission on the Status of Women.
